Taylor Swift shook up the music world when she removed her entire music catalogue from Spotify.
The "Shake It Off" singer insisted that music has real value and people should pay for her work.
"Until Spotify starts to fairly compensate the creators of music, I'm not going to be a part of it," Swift told Billboard. "[My fans] proved that they still want to invest in music, that it's important enough to spend their hard-earned money on."
The singer, who recently chose to switch genres from country to pop, said it's turned out to be the right decision.
"The biggest struggled turned into the biggest triumph when it worked out," she said.
While her career has been booming, her love life has taken a back burner and she's fine with that.
"I, however, am 24, perfectly happy being alone, and one of the reasons I'm perfectly happy being alone is that no one gets hurt this way."
Finally, Swift has a message for her critics who claim she doesn't pen her own tunes.
"They may have to deal with their own sexist issues, because if I were a guy and you were to look at my catalog and my lyrics, you would not wonder if I was the person behind it."
