USA Network has doubled down on “Royal Pains,” giving a two-season pickup to its durable drama series set in the Hamptons.
The renewal gives the Universal Cable Prods. sudser eight-episode pickups for seasons seven and eight. “Royal Pains” wrapped its sixth season in September with a solid 3.3 million viewer average for its 13-episode run. The show will hit its 100th episode in season eight.
Andrew Lenchewski and Michael Rauch exec produce the series with Prospect Park’s Rich Frank, Jeff Kwatinetz and Paul Frank. Mark Feuerstein plays a doctor who caters to the rich and famous in the tony Long Island enclave. Paulo Costanzo and Reshma Shetty co-star.
“‘Royal Pains’ remains a staple for fun summer TV viewing, and we are pleased to bring back the series for two additional seasons,” said USA prexy Chris McCumber. Said Jeff Wachtel, prexy-chief content officer of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment: “It’s no easy feat to maintain a real connection with your audience season after season, but Andrew, Michael, Mark, Paulo, Reshma and the rest of team have done that and more.”
“Royal Pains” renewal comes on the heels of USA’s pickup of “Suits” for season five and a sophomore season order for “Satisfaction.” There’s no official word yet on the fate of drama “Graceland” for season three but it is expected to get the nod.
