A Swedish model who was bicycling in New York City has been struck by a bus and hospitalized in critical condition.

Friend Timothy Phillips says 29-year-old Anna Maria Mostrom was struck last Wednesday while riding to her home on Roosevelt Island, in the East River between Manhattan and Queens.

Police say the bus driver remained at the scene and has not been charged.

The Daily News reported Mostrom was a contestant on the Scandinavian version of "Top Model" in 2005. The newspaper reported that the model was brain dead, citing family members and authority.

Mostrom moved to New York about two years ago. She had been working to transition from modeling to other creative endeavors.
