May 23, 2014: In this file photo, Janay Rice, left, looks on as her husband, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, speaks to the media during an news conference in Owings Mills, Md.
Brutal footage emerged Monday morning that showed Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice punching his then-fiancée (now wife) Janay Palmer, and Seth Rogen quickly took to Twitter to criticize the footballer and the NFL for how the situation has been handled.
I don't know much about football, but I know that Ray Rice is a piece of garbage who shouldn't be allowed to play it professionally anymore.

Rogen later tweeted at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell: “your punishment for beating a woman is less than for smoking weed. Get your head out of your f---ing ass.”
I just saw the video of Ray Rice knocking his wife unconscious with his fist. The @nfl needs to readdress this issue. #DomesticViolence

Seems a man can do just about anything to a woman (or her kids) if she's 'just' the girlfriend -or wife #RayRice http://t.co/0ICiGKFQJs

Hey @nfl -- by default, @TMZ has a better moral compass than you. Think about that for a second.

The new video proves without a doubt Ray Rice got a slap on the wrist for giving a punch to his fiancées face. Disgusting.

Current and former sports stars also reacted to the footage.
Not to take attention away from Ray Rice, but Goodell and his suits saw the elevator video in July. They need to be held accountable as well

I'm glad no one this morning seems to care about yesterday's games. This piece of shit needs to be out of the league. Period.

He could've killed that girl. They need to sports science the force of that punch. NFL players are STRONG... Like very strong...

The NFL suspended Rice for two games during the season, including Sunday's opening day loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Rice avoided jail time by entering a pretrial diversionary program.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced harsher penalties for domestic abuse, telling league owners in a letter last month that he "didn't get it right" in Rice's case.
