New Zack Morris: Unauthorized story 'a love letter' to Saved By The Bell

Bayside High, burgers at the Max and, of course, giant brick cell phones.  These are a few of the things that come to mind when thinking about the classic 90s TV show “Saved By The Bell.”  This Labor Day weekend, Lifetime takes a nostalgic look back at the show that changed the landscape of Saturday mornings and established Zack Morris, Kelly Kapowsik, A.C. Slater, Jessie Spano, Lisa Turtle and Screech as America’s favorite teens.

“The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story” showcases the experiences of six unknown teen actors thrust into the Hollywood spotlight.  Dylan Everett portrays Mark-Paul Gosselaar, the actor who played Zack Morris, gave Fox 411 a little insight into what fans can expect from the film.

“It’s a behind the scenes look at, you know, what the actors were going through whilst making the show.  It really plays on all the struggles that normal teenagers go through multiplied by the fact that they are young actors and they were on this hit show and it was so popular… But yeah I mean there’s some scandals, there’s some love triangles, there’s some a little bit of friction between the cast and producers and family members.”

When asked about the iconic “Zack Morris phone” Everett was more than a little shocked at the size of the device he was handed.

“I thought it was one of those things that people would carry on their backs in Vietnam and call in air strikes.  I was like, ‘What is this?  What do you mean it’s a cell phone, I can’t put it in my pocket?’… The brick phone I mean Zack Morris is such an iconic character and the brick phone is such an iconic accessory for Zack Morris, and yeah there’s a couple of scenes in the movie where you know it makes an appearance and I was glad we were able to squeeze that in there.”
