A Michigan man has died after being assaulted at a Hank Williams, Jr. concert on Sunday. The victim, 55-year-old Robert Kobe, was pronounced dead Tuesday following the incident.

Kobe suffered a head injury when a 15-year-old boy pushed him during the show, causing him to hit his head, according to the Oakland County Sheriffs Office. Kobe was found in a pool of his own blood — witnesses and bystanders held the teenager until police could arrive on the scene.

The teen spent one night at the Oakland Countys Childrens Village juvenile detention facility, and was then released into his parents’ custody. The sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident, and it has not yet been decided whether to charge the teen as an adult or a juvenile. There is no word on whether alcohol was involved in any way. Kobe’s body is scheduled for an autopsy.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the victim’s 29-year-old son, Cory Kobe, says that there’s indication his dad may have provoked the incident. Robert Kobe and the 15-year-old knew each other, Cory says.

“I want to make sure that this young man gets fair treatment,” Cory explains. “There are a lot of indications that there was no malicious intent.

Williams, Jr.’s reps have not commented on the incident.
