Casey Kasem is currently in critical condition and being treated for bed sores, a spokesperson for St. Anthony’s hospital in Washington state told FOX411 in a statement.
“Mr. Kasem was brought into the emergency department at St. Anthony Hospital on Sunday, June 1. His condition was evaluated by our emergency department staff and he was than admitted to the hospital that same day.”
The longtime radio personality is alert and is resting comfortably.
“Mr. Kasem is receiving wound care, intravenous antibiotic therapy, blood pressure support medication as well as treatment for his pain,” the statement said.
A source close to Kasem told FOX411 the 82-year-old is stable.
The hospital spokesperson said that any additional information about Kasem’s condition would come “at the discretion and approval of his children.”
“Mr. Kasem’s children – Kerri, Julie and Mike would like thank everyone and express their appreciation for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes they’ve received.”
Kasem’s children and his wife, Jean, have long been publicly feuding over the care of the ailing former radio star.
Last month, a judge ordered an investigation into Kasem’s whereabouts after his children claimed he was moved in the middle of the night without their knowledge. Several days later he was found in the company of family friends and said to be on a vacation.
Kasem has a form of dementia and his children have said he is suffering from other medical issues as well.
Kasem gained fame with his radio music countdown shows, "American Top 40" and "Casey's Top 40," and he was the voice of Shaggy in the cartoon "Scooby Doo."
