Liam Neeson is back in action on the big screen in the high-stakes thriller “Non-Stop” starring as an air marshal who receives threatening texts during a Trans-Atlantic flight kicking off a race against the clock to save everyone on board. The 61-year-old actor has been in more than 40 films and early on was known for his dramatic acting skills, most notably receiving an Oscar-nomination for his performance in 1993’s “Schindler’s List.” FOX411 sat down with Neeson to discuss his successful career.
FOX411: Would you ever want to move over to a light romantic comedy and give up saving the world or do you love it?
Liam Neeson: It depends on the script. I love writers. Whatever is in that script, that’s what moves me, no matter what the genre is.
FOX411: How does it feel to be a go-to action-star at this point in your career?
Neeson: It’s terribly flattering for a start… and it’s wonderful to get a script and you see the lead character is 33 years of age, and suddenly they change it and make him mid-50s...
FOX411: Any injuries [on set]?
Neeson: Absolutely none, I’m very proud to say, not a one.
FOX411: Is that unusual?
Neeson: It is unusual. The fight choreographer I was working with, Mark Vanselow, we’ve done 15 films together. So we’re very, very attuned to each other. We really rehearsed these things. We can almost do them in our sleep… almost. That’s the only way to avoid being hurt.
FOX411: What are a couple basics if you were teaching a class on Action-Star 101?
Neeson: I think you have to look after yourself physically, you have to. Shooting any movie requires that, a focus and a stamina. Whether it’s an action film or not.
