Cate Blanchett gave a heartfelt tribute to her friend and fellow actor Philip Seymour Hoffman during her acceptance speech for a BAFTA award in London Sunday night, the New York Post reported.
Blanchett won the best-actress prize for her turn as a socialite in the Woody Allen movie “Blue Jasmine” at the British Academy of Film and television Arts Awards.
The actress called the late Hoffman “a monumental presence who is now sadly an absence.”
“Phil, buddy, this is for you,” Blanchett said. “I hope you’re proud.”
