Catch up on several critically acclaimed award contenders this week like “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, the historical drama based on the real-life story of an African-American butler who served eight Presidents in the White House.

“Fruitvale Station” is also now on DVD.  It stars Michael B. Jordan in the true story of Oscar Grant, a California man killed by a transit officer at a subway stop New Year’s Day in 2009.

Also available to take-home is the romantic comedy “Enough Said” starring Julia Louis Dreyfus and James Gandolfini in one of his final film roles.  Plus Brie Lawson in the indie film “Short Term 12” about a foster care facility, and the documentary “20 Feet From Stardom” which shines the spotlight on back-up singers.

Scary movie fans get ready for a double-feature!  The remake of “Carrie” starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore is now on Blu-Ray and DVD.  So is the horror film “You’re Next” about a family under attack during a celebratory getaway by intruders donning twisted masks.

In action-packed offerings, Vin Diesel leads the way with “Riddick” on a Blu-ray combo pack with an unrated director’s cut and alternate ending.

In coming of age tales there’s “The Spectacular Now” and the unique coming of age comedy “A.C.O.D” which stands for Adult Children of Divorce starring Adam Scott and many of his comedic friends. Extras include outtakes with actress Amy Poehler.
