While NBC is on a drive to push “Today,” there’s snickering at 30 Rock about NBC News president Deborah Turness’ mission statement buzzwords “Substance, Uplift and Connection” — which translate to SUC for short.
Turness is bullish about the campaign for “Today” to regain ground against “GMA.” The Times reported in 2013, “Her three buzzwords for ‘Today’ are substance, uplift and connection.”
But a source told Pagesix.com, “People are joking that their mission statement ‘SUCs.’ ”
While an NBC rep said, “The only thing that ‘SUCs’ is the mistaken source who told you this false gossip,” we note that more recently, Turness tweaked her buzzwords to something that doesn’t suck — “Substance, Connection and Uplift.”
