Belieb it or not, Justin Bieber is retiring – or so he says.
The 19-year-old pop icon delivered an unwelcome Christmas present to his 48 million followers on Twitter Tuesday night when he told them his singing career is over, the New York Post reported.
The news isn’t entirely unexpected, as Bieber had floated the idea of retiring earlier in the month when he told a Los Angeles radio station he’s planning to take a break from music after his new album “Journals” was released.
“After the new album, I’m actually retiring man,” he said. “I’m retiring.”
In the same interview, Bieber suggested he hadn’t quite made up his mind, saying, “I want to grow as an artist and I’m taking a step out. I want my music to grow.”
As for his plans for next year, he said that in 2014 he’s focusing on “figuring out myself as a man.” But don’t worry Beliebers, he said that includes “something special” for the fans.
