It’s that time of the year again, and actor Dean Cain is ditching his Clark Kent glasses in favor of a sheriff’s badge as he stars in ION TV’s “Defending Santa.”
Cain stars as a small town sheriff who comes face to face with an unconscious Kris Kringle on Christmas Eve.
“I discover an injured unconscious man face down in the snow in our little town and he’s wearing a Santa Claus suit. So I take him to the hospital and he ends up in a coma for the better part of a year,” Cain told Fox 411. “As the holidays start to eek around he magically awakes from his coma and claims to be Kris Kringle.”
The town is skeptical, to say the least, and Santa is put on trial to prove he is who he says he is. Cain as the straight-laced sheriff doesn’t believe Old Saint Nick, but his daughter eventually convinces him.
“It’s a very cute family movie and hopefully at the end, others will believe he’s Santa as well,” said Cain.
As for his own holiday, Cain says he’ll be spending this Thanksgiving with family and friends watching football and “having a blast.” But he doesn’t think his beloved Buffalo Bills will be heading to the Super Bowl this year.
“I played for the Buffalo Bills so I love the Bills and I’m always rooting for them, but I don’t think they’re a danger this year for even looking at the Super Bowl,” said Cain. “But I think the team that’s going to the Super Bowl without a doubt is another one of my favorite teams and certainly my favorite quarterback out there right now: It’s gonna be the Denver Broncos.”
