Jennifer Lopez will take one of the leading roles in this small-budget thriller helmed by Rob Cohen ("Fast and Furious," "xXx"), Thewrap.com reports.
Developed with support from Jason Blum, the producer behind "Paranormal Activity" and "The Purge" among several other horror films, "The Boy Next Door" will feature Lopez in the role of a single mother who seduces her son's teenage friend. When she decides to end the affair, things quickly take a turn for the worse.
Like "Paranormal Activity," the new feature will be filmed on a shoestring budget, estimated at less than $5 million including Lopez's salary.
Rob Cohen will begin shooting the film this fall, before the actress and singer resumes her role as a judge on the Fox show "American Idol." Jennifer Lopez will take part in the 13th season of the reality TV talent show, which will air on Fox next January.
