Royal weddings bells were heard this weekend in Monaco when the second-in-line to the throne said “I do” to a South American beauty.
Monaco royal Andrea Casiraghi married Colombian heiress Tatiana Santo Domingo on Saturday, in a private ceremony that was unlike any other regal nuptials.
New York-born Santo Domingo, 29, ditched the high heels for silver flat sandals and wore a simple garland of flowers in her tousled hair, instead of a crown. For the late-morning ceremony, which took place in the grounds of the Prince’s Palace, the gorgeous brunette wore a full-length Missoni gown with three-quarter-length sleeves and no noticeable jewelry, Hello! Magazine reported.
Casiraghi, also 29, wore a dark suit, white shirt and spotted blue tie. He is the eldest child of Princess Caroline of Monaco and the late Stefano Casiraghi, who died in a speedboat accident in 1990.
The couple, who were introduced by Casiraghi’s sister Charlotte, announced their engagement in July of 2012. Eight months later they welcomed a son, Sacha, now five months old.
According to Hello! Magazine, the bride and groom were joined by 400 guests for an al fresco lunch next to the pool at the Prince’s Palace. Among those invited were Greek shipping heiress Eugenie Niarchos, the Missioni fashion family and Tatiana’s New York-based siblings.
Andrea Casiraghi is the nephew of Monaco’s ruling sovereign, Prince Albert II, known as a notorious ladies man. The prince ended decades of bachelorhood in 2011 when he married South African Olympic swimming champion Charlene Wittstock.
Tatiana is the daughter of Brazilian Vera Rechilski and the late businessman Julio Mario Santo Domingo Jr., who owned the Colombian media empire Caracol in Colombia.
Further details on the wedding was scarce as no official information was issued, expect to confirm that it was taking place.
