Promise?

Chris Brown took to Twitter Tuesday to announce that he will “probably” quit music after the release of his upcoming sixth studio album, X, in stores Aug. 20.

Brown’s declaration came the day after he turned himself in to a Van Nuys, Calif., jail in connection to his ongoing hit-and-run case. He was booked, put behind bars for a mere 45 minutes, and released with no bail Monday afternoon.

But the slammer stint didn’t seem to phase the singer much, as he showed up at AV Nightclub hours later, eventually escorting a mystery blonde out and speeding off in his Lamborghini Aventador sports car.

But soon, Brown will have another date with the law. Last month, a judge revoked Brown’s five-year probation — stemming from his 2009 assault on former girlfriend Rihanna — following the hit-and-runcharges, to which the singer previously pleaded not guilty. He has an Aug. 19 hearing on the probation matter, and is facing up to four years in jail if the judge finds him in violation.
