Former Miss USA Susie Castillo Recruits Fellow Pageant Winners To Strip For PETA

The former winners of the Miss USA pageant are taking off their crowns, and everything else, in PETA’s newest ad campaign.

Ahead of the 2013 pageant being held this weekend in Las Vegas, Dominican beauty Susie Castillo, who won in  2003, recruited Shanna Moakler (1995), Shandi Finnessey (2004), and Alyssa Campanella (2011), to strip down for animal rights.

In the new black and white photo, the four women posed sided by side next to the words, "Feel Beautiful in Your Own Skin, and Let Animals Keep Theirs."

The former beauty queens joined the campaign in an effort to urge the entire pageant industry to adopt a universal fur-free policy.

Additionally, the former Miss USAs want pageants nationwide to stop awarding fur coats as prizes, as some state pageants still offer these gifts as prizes to winners.

Castillo felt “blessed” she was given the opportunity to reunite her fellow Miss USA winners "to take a stand united and to tell the pageant industry not to support the fur industry."

"I've been an animal lover all my life, and the more I learned of the torture that animals go through in the name of fashion, I just think it's so unnecessary," Castillo said in a video accompanying the campaign.

"As long as I'm the director of Miss Nevada, we will never award fur coats as prizes, and I urge my fellow pageant directors to make the same pledge," Moakler added in a statement to PETA.

"Kind people today are taking a stand against cruelty to animals—so a fur coat is no prize for a compassionate, socially-aware woman."

In the 2013 pageant, three Latinas, Miss Florida, Miss Hawaii and Miss Wisconsin,  will be vying for the title of Miss USA.
