After joking about it at the beginning of the month, former President Bill Clinton has officially joined Twitter.

Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert first brought attention to Clinton's glaring absense from the social networking site during an interview with the president earlier this month. Colbert even set up somewhat of a temporary Twitter account for Clinton under the name @PrezBillyJeff.

"I think I’m sort of insecure. What if you tweet, and nobody tweets back?" Clinton asked during his appearance on Colbert's show. "There’s nothing worse than a friendless tweeter, right? You’re just wandering around in cyberspace."

It seems that Bill has finally gotten over his fears, though. He officially joined as @BillClinton last night, first tweeting at Colbert and his daughter Chelsea, and then tweeting to raise awareness for World Malaria Day.

So what do you think? Are you on Twitter? Will you start following Clinton?
