American Idol: Lazaro Arbos Delivers Strong Performance, But Forgot Lyrics

 (FOX )

It was all about classic rock Wednesday night on “American Idol” as the Top seven fought to stay in the game.

Cuban-American Lazaro Arbos, who stood out for his phenomenal voice despite having severe stuttering issues, took the stage with fellow “Idol” contender Angie Miller and performed “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”

Although the Miami native looked and sounded on point, he forgot the lyrics. Still, he managed to finish the number as though nothing had happened and got a sincere applause from the crowd and judges.

Arbos, 21, moved to Florida from Cuba when he was 10 and says that living with such a severe case of stuttering is “like a roller coaster.”

“The things that normal people would think are so easy become so hard for me,” he told the producers of the show. “We don’t know where my stuttering came from. It’s just something that goes on and no one really knows why.”

Other standout moments on the show took place when “Idol” alumni Hollie Cavanagh and Joshua Ledet, who rocked Season 11, visited the set to encourage the new “Idol” hopefuls.

Arbos may have disappointed during his team performance, but Miller left the judges smiling after taking the stage solo and performing Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life.”

Miller did have a slipup last week, but this week she nailed it.

Nicki Minaj, who recently made headlines after announcing she’s dabbling in acting, told Miller that the song “was a perfect choice for you.”

“I think this was a perfect choice for you, because you were able to start on the piano and still stay true to the genre we’re doing tonight,” Minaj said.

"Your voice really did sound amazing.”
