Devin Velez sang his swan song on Thursday’s “American Idol.”

The bright eyed 18-year-old became the third male in a row to be eliminated from the competition.

Velez was finally sent packing after placing in the bottom the last two weeks.

Despite being called one of the best singers in the competition, Velez was not able to connect with viewers and get the fan votes he needed.

While Velez’s performance of The Miracles' "The Tracks of My Tears" during Detroit night impressed the judges, it came up short in comparison to the other performances.

Co-founder of Interscope Records Jimmy Iovine said that Velez’s group performance with the other male contestants, Lazaro Arbos and Burnell Taylor, fell flat.

Calling the group’s performance of the Four Tops' "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" shaky, Iovine dubbed the group the “Wrong Direction.”

Despite the judge’s having the opportunity to save the young singer, they decided against it.

Judge Randy Jackson silenced the audience who were chanting for the save to be used on Velez.

"For us, unfortunately, it was not unanimous; we are not going to use [it],” Jackson said.

The gracious young singer told the judges, "It's been an honor, man.”

"As long as I leave with you guys and God, we're good," Velez added.
