Fashion Week: Celebrities snub Tadashi Shoji runway show

Big name celebrities like Beyonce, Oprah and Octavia Spencer love to be seen in Tadashi Shoji’s elegant gowns, but it seems none of them could be bothered to attend his Fashion Week show on Thursday.

Maybe their stylists dropped by to peruse possible looks for the Grammys or Oscars, but if they did it wasn’t obvious.

“On the red carpet, many people are using my dresses,” Shoji told Fox News ahead of the show.
But a member from Tadashi’s team said no celebrities confirmed they would attend ahead of the fall 2013 runway show.

Still, the Japanese-born designer showed plenty of award-worthy pieces at his show.
The collection focused on red and blue tones with lots of lace.

But many of the designs may have been a bit modest for the celebrity crowd. His collection featured plenty of wardrobe-malfunction proof dresses-- with floor-length hems, high necklines and long sleeves. Many of the dresses were also loosely fitted and made out of heavy fabrics.

Ahead of his show, Shoji said his collection was inspired by stories of princesses and royal families.

“The story of the Romanov Empire before the revolution [inspired me],” he said.

The crowd seemed to appreciate his bold styles. They applauded wildly when the designer walked the runway following the show.
