The death of Latino paparazzo Chris Guerra has let the most recent split between on-again, off-again couple Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez slip under the radar.

According to sources at Hollywood Life the couple broke up during their romantic New Year’s getaway to Mexico after yet another fight.

“The two of them flew to Mexico for New Year’s Eve, but had a blow-out argument on December 30 and broke up," a source said.

"Selena left Mexico that same day and Justin left for L.A. on the 31st."

Just a few hours before Guerra was struck by oncoming traffic after attempting to take pictures of the driver of the car who he believed to be Bieber, the paparazzo had called a photo agency he worked for claiming he was onto a big story.

As a source for the agency told TMZ that Guerra claimed he saw Bieber earlier on New Year’s Day smoking what he believed was marijuana from a pipe while driving the Ferrari.

"Man, you won't believe my luck.  It's pretty dead in L.A.,” Guerra told a contact at the agency.

“Everybody thinks Justin and Selena are in Mexico, but they're not."

However with this new information about Jelena's split the claim by Guerra has proven to be untrue as the off-again couple were not even together that day.

"They haven’t seen each other since and she was never at the Four Seasons on New Year’s Day,” source for Bieber told Hollywood Life.

Just a day before their breakup the couple was all smiles as they landed in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to ring in the New Year with a little fun in the sun.

The latest vacation for the on-again, off-again couple came just a week after the two were seen snuggling in the Salt Lake City airport following a recent ski trip.
