Mexico's music world mourned Jenni Rivera, the U.S.-born singer presumed killed in a plane crash whose soulful voice and openness about her personal troubles had made her a Mexican-American superstar.

"La Diva de la Banda" made last-minute changes to her itinerary the day her plane crashed, killing her and six other onboard, according to a report from Mexican website Conexion Total.
The concert promoter who hired Rivera to have her concert in Monterrey, Mexico last week said he had offered her to stay in Monterrey that evening.
The National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the crash, confirmed Rivera’s death on Monday. They say Mexican authorities told them Rivera died in Sunday’s plane crash in northern Mexico. Recent reports say her remains were found and were taken to a forensic facility in Mexico
Jesús Arreola says Rivera decided last minute to fly out in the wee hours to Toluca.
“We spoke to her (Jenni Rivera) and her representative (Mario Macías) at 2:30am,” said Arreola.
“During that call was when they informed us that she had changed her plans and that they would be flying out right away to Toluca.”
Arreola said Rivera insisted on leaving Monterrey because she had an appearance on “La Voz Mexico 2,” a singing competition taking place in Mexico City, despite the lodging arrangements that had been made for her and her team.
“We had four tables in the VIP area and we had her disguise ready for her so no one would recognize her,” said Arreola. “We also had reserved a hotel for her.”
Arreola said that Rivera was so excited to perform in Monterrey again that during the sound check she had her team inform him that she wanted to return during the last week in February.
