Get ready to see George Lopez like you’ve never seen him before.
GLO, as the comedian calls himself, is opening up about his personal life in the second part of the “Latino List” documentary, which airs Monday on HBO.
Now in its second installment, the “Latino List” showcases the experiences of famous Latinos in the United States and how the culture has shaped who they are.
For Lopez, it was an opportunity to “be honest” with his audience and himself.
“I am pretty honest in this documentary about my personal life, which I rarely [am],” Lopez told Fox News Latino.
“[I am] divorced and moving forward,” he said adding how in past interviews he has chosen not to “speak of (his ex-wife) that much out of respect and the fact that she doesn’t like it.”
Lopez was married to Ann Serrano for 17 years and called it quits two years ago. The divorce was finalized in July of last year and Lopez's TBS “Lopez Tonight” show was canceled a month later.
He recently launched his own dating show, “Take Me Out.”
Lopez told Fox News Latino that he is dating and working on several deals for new shows. He said he was happy with “Lopez Tonight” but wasn’t happy with how things ended.
“I lasted for two seasons,” Lopez said. “I’m happy with the two seasons but I don’t particularly care how I was treated or how my people were treated. So on behalf of myself and everyone else, that was unnecessary.”
He said what he brings to the table is something cable channels are salivating over – a growing Latino audience with millions in spending power.
“I have my own audience. An emerging audience that they will never have,” said Lopez adding that for him the Latino audience is “just getting bigger and stronger.”
