“Saturday Night Live” opted to scrap a sketch mocking President Obama and replaced it with a skit taking on Fox News this weekend, according to a report from the Daily Caller.
The intended skit was to feature Fred Armisen playing Obama addressing Americans following the first anniversary of the killing of Usama bin Laden. In the skit, Obama was reminding viewers that he deserved all credit for the raid on bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan.
A copy of the script for the skit, written by Jim Downey, was obtained by the Caller.
“I hope you had a safe and joyous first anniversary of his killing,” Armisen’s Obama says. “Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to be home this year, as I had to fly to Afghanistan, to remind President Karzai that, exactly one year ago, we killed [Usama bin Laden], and that the decision to do so was a gutsy one. And was mine.”

The sketch follows weeks of Obama facing criticism from Mitt Romney over taking too much credit for the death of bin Laden.
It is unclear why the skit was scrapped at the last minute, but NBC instead opted to air a parody of Fox News’ “Fox and Friends,” which also featured Armisen.
