Shakira and Barcelona star Gerard Piqué are definitely in love, but their romance seems to have throw soccer super-club Real Madrid into a fit of jealousy.
Sites such as Marca.com, AS.com and Yahoo! Sports are reporting that Shakira’s songs will no longer grace the pre-match playlist at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. They have been pulled, with no explanation given, despite being some of the most played tunes to date.
Spanish media sites speculate that the decision has everything to do with her dating Piqué who plays for Real Madrid's traditional rival, Barcelona. Just days earlier, Shakira told FIFA.com that she never misses any of Piqué’s matches. She also said she has come to understand the “dedication, commitment, discipline and teamwork” needed to play soccer at a professional level.
Shakira Shows Some Love to Boyfriend Piqué
"Once you start to understand football [soccer], you realize that it's not just about the physical side of the game and chasing after a ball," Shakira told the web site.
She added that after the World Cup she saw "the importance and impact this sport has on the lives of billions of people every day, on the dreams of the young people and children who devote so many hours of their lives to playing the game.”
Expect to see Shakira at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Barcelona Wins Fiery 'El Classico' over Real Madrid
"I'm not sure in what capacity, but I'll definitely be there," she told FIFA.com.
But don't expect her to wear a Real Madrid jersey.
