Fat-busting British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver called an Australian reporter a "b-----" for asking about his apparent weight gain.

Oliver, who is Down Under to promote a healthy food initiative, was asked Tuesday by a local journalist if he had gained weight since his last visit to Australia.

"I don't know," he responded. "I don't know. I am very healthy. I think the last time I had a filling in my teeth, which was quite recently, I was in good nick. But really, I am not really sure."

The 36-year-old then quipped, "Are you from a tabloid? Thank you for noticing, you b-----."

Oliver later said he had not been thinking straight during the question-and-answer session in Melbourne.

"I went out last night and had a few drinks after a very long day. My brain did not quite understand that question," he said.

The foodie, who rose to prominence with the UK TV series "The Naked Chef," has championed the cause of healthier eating in schools in Britain and took his campaign to the US with "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution."

He is in Australia to launch a partnership with the Victorian government and The Good Foundation, to combat state-wide obesity.
