Fox411 Country: Music A-listers to pay tribute to Johnny Cash in concert

Fox 411 Country kicks off with the ‘Man in Black,’ as it’s been announced a Johnny Cash tribute concert has been added to the series of events rolling out this year to mark what would have been his 80th birthday on February 26th.

The show is called “We Walk the Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash” and is set for April 20th in Austin, TX.  Artists on the line-up include Kenny Chesney, Chris Cornell, Ronnie Dunn, Lucinda Williams, and more.  Johnny Cash’s son John Carter Cash says of the event, “Our family is honored to know that this amazing line-up of artists will gather together on one stage to pay tribute to the music and history of my father.”

This latest musical gathering follows the ground-breaking of the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Project in Dyess, Arkansas to preserve his childhood home plus the announcement of new music releases coming soon with unreleased material.

On the road, Kid Rock joined Republican candidate Mitt Romney in Michigan at his Royal Oak Music Theatre rally the night before the primary.  The two had previously met in person before Kid Rock agreed to take the stage.  Then after being introduced as “a son of Detroit, a friend” and “a guy who makes great music”, Kid Rock played his song “Born Free” which has become a staple at Mitt Romney’s events.

In other Kid Rock news, he’s announced a new effort to help the city of Detroit, playing a one-night-only event to raise $1 million for The Detroit Symphony Orchestra to keep the music going and to assist it’s community outreach work.  The concert is set for May 12th and will pair the rocker with the orchestra.

In new music news, Kenny Chesney is ready to send out a new album.  This follows his recent Platinum release Hemingway’s Whiskey which included the #1 hit “The Boys of Fall” and the CMA Award winning “You and Tequila” with Grace Potter.  The untitled album is due out June 19th.

In music-to-movies news, Taylor Swift is heading to theaters this week in Dr Seuss’ "The Lorax" as the voice of a young girl who meets a unique friend of the environment.

Swift tells us she’s just like her on-screen character when it comes to having big dreams, "I’m very day-dreamy like the character I play in this movie, I have a lot of these crazy dreams that are floating around that may or may not happen and I'm really hopeful right now."

Keith Urban is at the movies too, his song “For You” appears in the closing credits of “Act of Valor.”  The film starring US Navy Seals hit #1 at the box office and it’s soundtrack "Act of Valor: The Album" hit number 8 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.  Meanwhile, Urban’s “You Gonna Fly” is still holding onto the #1 spot for Billboard’s Country Songs.

Plus we’ve got plenty of "American Idol" (graduates) news! First, superstar Carrie Underwood debuts her new single “Good Girl” at #1 on Billboard’s Digital Country Songs Chart with 108,000 downloads in just three days. The track is off her upcoming album due out May 1st.

Next, it’s been announced Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina is set to return to the Idol stage on March 8th to perform her single “Georgia Peaches”.

Then, Scotty McCreery goes Gold once again! “The Trouble With Girls” gets its RIAA Gold Certification, making it his second consecutive gold single off his platinum debut album Clear As Day and also, our featured song of the week. Enjoy!
