Robert Downey Jr. has made several bold moves in the course of his acting career – from appearing in blackface for his role in the comedy “Tropic Thunder” to an onscreen kiss with Val Kilmer in “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.”
But, there is one scene in the upcoming film “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” that causes him to shudder at the mere thought.
For a disguise scene in the highly-anticipated spy movie sequel, the Oscar-nominated actor was dolled up to look like quite the lady, while his wife Susan (producer) sat behind-the-lens and attempted to work.

“I keep thinking, is my wife sitting behind the monitor and watching me cross dress on purpose?" Downey Jr. lamented to FOX411’s Pop Tarts column at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles this week.
But cross-dressing aside, the expectant Hollywood power couple love the fact they get to have a professional relationship as well as a private one.
“What I love most about the movie? I love her about it,” Downey Jr. continued, rubbing his wife’s pregnant stomach. “I love that I get to go to work with her every day … And I think ‘A Game of Shadows’ turned out better than the first movie and statistically it is highly unlikely that a sequel is ever better than the first one.”
As for the other reasons he loved the film?
“I got to become smartass,” he said.
And according to director Guy Richie, Downey Jr. had one other key thing going for him.
“When I look back, it was impossible to cast anyone else. There are obvious parallels in the characteristics between Robert and Sherlock,” he explained. “And he is the only male American actor I know who can do a flawless English accent. Girls can crack the accent, but it is hard for the fellas.”
But skills and talents aside, Robert Downey Jr. has learned to accept the many trials and tribulations he has been through both in front of and behind-the-lens, and now just appreciates every moment he has to live.
“It’s so easy in life to get caught up with the ‘now I am in a good spot, now I am in a bad spot’ but the thing is to turn it up to 110 degrees and stir slowly,” he added. “I don’t want to miss what is actually happening.”
