This Halloween, "99 percent" of us don't really have the dough to splurge on an expensive costume. Which is one of the reasons why DIY celebrity costumes are becoming a major trend. That, and they're a good excuse to make fun of Charlie Sheen and Lady Gaga.

Speaking of Sheen, even he plans to dress up as himself this year, he announced on Twitter. And the word is out that the "Malibu Maniac" costume will be pretty popular among non-celebs, too. Just take one of Sheen's "Two and a Half Men" bowling shirts, add a goddess or two and you're pretty much there. (Sheen masks, glasses, wigs, shirts and hats are available on Amazon.)

We also love the idea of paying tribute to late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs by donning his trademark "uniform": black mock turtleneck, "dad" jeans and sneakers. Key accessory? The latest iPhone, of course. Ladies, you can go Gaga this year, but forget the meat dress: This year, it's all about Gaga's male alter ego, Jo Calderone. Guys might also enjoy dressing up as a man dressed up like a woman dressed up as a man.
