The energy filled dance scored Martinez 28 points (out of 30)− the highest of the evening.
Martinez, 28, tapped into his Latin roots in order to get “inspired” and perfect the Brazilian dance. Along with his partner Karina Smirnoff, he visited the Conga Room and “remembered to have fun” while performing.
“One of the advantages that I think I have in the Samba this week is the fact that I am Latin,” Martinez said. “Being raised by a single mother is that I was always dancing with my mother and I think that will help me do well with the samba.”
The “All my Children” actor and army vet and Smirnoff have been solid in second place for the past month, but this is something the Smirnoff vowed to change, and did, with their samba performance.
“It’s time to really step it up and put those hips to a good use,” said a determined Smirnoff.
Martinez promised the judges that they would see a more sensual side to him, which he referred to as “Jose Rene Martinez.”
"Way to go, Jose!" said Goodman. “I didn’t think you would come out here and perform like that.”
“Somehow guys and the samba just don’t work together.”
"In the future, if anyone says to me, how should a guy dance the samba? I'll say just look at J.R," he added.
Dancing expert Bruno Tonioli told Martinez that “The Kardashians are gagging" thanks to his sizzling performance.
"You were like a loin-shattering sex machine," Tonioli said. "You had so much fire down below, it was like a volcano!"
Carrie Ann Inaba even told Martinez how hot she thinks he is.
“Hay papi muy caliente,” Inaba said. “That is the way to dance that samba.”
"I want more of that, because that was *!@$ing amazing.”
