It seems only fair that Guns 'N Roses should go down in rock 'n' roll history. But disco queen Donna Summer?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for 2012 have been announced, and Summer is on the list -- even though her infamous wedding song "Last Dance" doesn't exactly qualify as rock in our jukebox.

The other nominees include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart, The Cure, Guns 'N Roses, The Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Spinners, Laura Nyro, Donovan, War, Eric B. & Rakim, Freddie King, Rufus with Chaka Khan and The Small Faces/The Faces.

The Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donna Summer, Laura Nyro, Donovan and War have all been nominated in the past. Wondering why your current faves aren't on the list? An act must have released its first single or album 25 years ago to qualify for induction. (It's hard to believe Guns 'N Roses has been around for 25 years!)
