A web advertisement for kids' T-shirts, with the slogan "Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny Feels!" emblazoned on the front, was banned by the UK's advertising regulator Wednesday over the motto's promotion of eating disorders.
The ad on the Redwood City, Calif.-based Zazzle's website in April showed a picture of a young girl wearing the T-shirt with the slogan that was made famous by supermodel Kate Moss in November 2009.
The UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) upheld complaints that the advertisement was irresponsible as it implied being underweight was desirable and could in turn encourage children to "have an unhealthy relationship with food."
"Because we considered the ad could condone or encourage an unsafe practice or result in physical, mental or moral harm to children, we concluded that it was irresponsible," the ASA said in a statement.
Zazzle emphasized to the ASA that it had not designed the T-shirts as it is a technology company with an open marketplace platform for products designed by its users.
However, the website added it had now restricted the designs so they did not appear on children's clothing.
Moss was widely criticized for promoting anorexia when she said in a November 2009 interview that "Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny Feels!" was one of her mottos.
