Singer and actress Miley Cyrus will produce and star in an upcoming comedy about God, entertainment news website Contact Music reported Tuesday.

Cyrus, 18, will play the lead role in the film, the plot of which reportedly revolves around a broken promise to God. The film's title and further details about the plot have not yet been released.

Her mother, Tish Cyrus, will co-produce the movie, which is based on a screenplay by writers Sam Brown and Jack Angelo.

Former Disney star Cyrus is no stranger to controversy. Photos emerged Monday of her smoking a cigarette, prompting one fan to tweet, "I don't wanna see her in 5 years doing drugs or like Amy Winehouse."

The star declared in her 2009 autobiography "Miles to Go" that she would "never smoke."
