Move over Angelina Jolie, there’s a beautiful new butt-kicking action star in Hollywood. MMA champion Gina Carano is destined to cause jaws to drop and heads to roll as a secret service op seeking revenge on her betrayers in Steven Soderbergh’s much-buzzed action thriller, “Haywire,” slated for release in January 2012.

Carano is part of a start-studded cast of Hollywood veterans including Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas, but her co-star Channing Tatum insisted that the young female fighter is ultimately what makes the film.

“You are going to get some really satisfying girl on dude whoop-ass, just straight up whoop-ass. In our society we’re used to seeing guys beat up other dudes but this is so satisfying for me to see just a beautiful woman beat the s**t out of many so guys,” Tatum told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column at the Comic-Con International Convention over the weekend. “The way she holds her body is very much like a dancer, when you’re fighting it comes down to inches, bad things happen if you miss even by just an inch. There is one sequence where I have to pick her up off the counter and essentially slam her onto the ground and there only an inch of mistake area if I push down too hard… she tenses up and grabs me for one half a second so she doesn’t crack her head on the ground. But we did it perfectly every time.”

And while the choreographed fights and constant retakes are somewhat different than the life she leads in the cage, Carano embraced every moment of the intense movie-making experience.

“I was on such a high for the three months I was filming this, it was incredible jumping on the rooftops of Dublin and running through the streets of Barcelona and Mexico, and training with these wonderful actors and doing stunts with them and kicking their butts,” she said. “It was such an experience, and then learning a lot about the acting world. I have so much respect for what they do now, it’s not that easy.”

So how does one go from the slamming down ladies in stadiums to slamming down A-list actors in an Oscar-winning director’s big budget movie?

“I had actually had just lost to Cyborg in my first ever loss in the cage, and I was depressed when Steven Soderbergh contacted my agent, so we met up in San Diego and went out for a four-hour dinner and talked about life and experiences,” she explained. “And at the end of it he was like, ‘I just want to make this realistic thriller action movie with a female lead and I would like you to be it’ so I said let’s do it. He said it was going to happen really fast or not at all, and four days later they were starting to prep the movie.”

Despite breaking her precious pinkie finger during the action-packed shoot, Carano is more than ready to take on more heart-pounding, death defying roles.

“Oh I would love it, I do one thing really well and that’s be physical,” she said. “I’m absolutely ready for more movies, but I understand that not always that easy, so I’ll stay positive and hope."
