This week’s FOX 411 Country Round-Up is chock full of some of the industry’s biggest names making big headlines with comebacks, awards and new material for their loyal fans.
Garth Brooks kicks things off with his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, earning the honor for penning hits like “Unanswered Prayers” and “If Tomorrow Never Comes.”
And speaking of major songwriters, Shania Twain is back on the music charts after a few years out of the spotlight. As she continues to promote her autobiography, “From This Moment On,” she’s also making her mark on the Billboard Country Songs Chart with “Today Is Your Day.” According to Billboard.com, the song is the fourth-highest start of Twain’s 33 entries since 1993, debuting at No. 40.
Meanwhile, FOX 411 reported on the announcement that Glen Campbell will be releasing his final album and launching a farewell run in the fall after his wife revealed to People magazine that the 75-year-old legendary singer was diagnosed with early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. The album, “Ghost on the Canvas,” is scheduled for an August 30 release.
And with summer officially kicking off this week, FOX 411 Country also checks in on some of the biggest names in country music as they kick off their jam-packed summer schedules. From Keith Urban and his “Get Closer 2011 World Tour” going stateside, to Rascall Flatts who kicked off their “Flatts Fest” in Virginia with crowds of 35,000 fans.
Justin Moore, who’s on that Flatts tour, also stopped by to talk about hitting the road. He also tells stopped by the FOX 411 studios to promote his latest album “Outlaws Like Me,” which he says plays to the tune of a real country sound. We picked his fastest rising single to date, “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” as our FOX 411 Country featured song of the week.
