Kara DioGuardi Reveals Date-Rape, Molestation Horror in New Memoir

Kara DioGuardi

In a upcoming memoir, former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi says she was molested as a child and date-raped by a music producer, according to a report from E! Online.

Out April 26, DioGuardi’s “A Helluva High Note” reveals the horrors that the successful songwriter faced in her youth.

DioGuardi reportedly says that she was molested repeatedly when she was just 11 years old by the son of a family friend, who was in his late teens at the time.

"On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina," E! quotes her book as saying. "I remember freezing and not knowing what to do."

Years later, when her music career began to take off, DioGuardi says a “fairly known producer” invited her to a friendly dinner, but the night ended in horror.

“[W]ithin hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating,” she said, detailing the rape.

DioGuardi says she repeatedly told him to stop, but was too scared to fight him off for fear that he would turn violent. She later kept quiet about the ordeal for fear that he would destroy her career, E! reports.

DioGuardi, whose new show “Platinum” debuts on Bravo next month, also says a “hugely successful artist” sexually harassed her years later.

She says she was invited on a three-day songwriting trip by the artist, but instead, the trip turned into “watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers … as they performed sex acts in the living room.”

The book also details her time on “Idol” and her struggle to get pregnant during her final season. Ultimately, she ended up asking the producers to let her out of her contract.
