"El Príncipe de la Canción" José José joined students and supporters in Los Angeles this past weekend to spread awareness about the DREAM Act.

With activists such as Dolores Huerta, the Mexican singer urged students to value the sacrifices of their parents by staying in school.

“Take conscious of those who stand behind you so you can study,” said José in his speech. “You all are the product of the DREAM Act… never abandon your studies.”

The DREAM Act already has been approved by the House of Representatives and is currently in the Senate.

If passed, the law will allow children of undocumented immigrants to receive benefits such as government aid for college and permission to join the military.
