"She is my woman of the year."
That's what Lady Gaga said about Susan Boyle, and we agree.
Susan Boyle made entertainment history in 2009, and is Fox411's Celebrity of The Year.
Affectionately known as SuBo to her fans, her debut record, "I Dreamed A Dream," sold more than 410,000 copies in its debut week in November, more than any other U.K. artist in history.
That includes The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elton John - you get the picture.
And now Boyle is neck and neck with country crossover sensation Taylor Swift for the #1 album of 2009 - and SuBo's album has only been out for seven weeks!
This would be the pinnacle of any artist's career, but what has made Boyle's achievement even more unbelievable is that this is her debut album, and nobody out side of her hometown of Blackburn, Scotland even knew who she was on April 10, 2009.
Then, on April 11, she went on the reality TV show "Britain's Got Talent" and sang "I Dreamed a Dream."
And her life kind of became one.
Her rendition of the "Les Miserables" classic became an Internet sensation, setting a YouTube record with 120 millions views.
Then Boyle found, like many do, that being a celebrity isn't all limousines and poolside meetings. She was admitted to the hospital after suffering a breakdown, started yelling at paparazzi, and underwent an image makeover, going from downright dowdy to slightly less so.
Will she be able to keep up the momentum in 2010? Not likely. But in 2009, there was no brighter star than the frumpy Scot with a voice of pure spun gold.
