The Dillon Panthers have a new home: ABC Family.
The channel has acquired the basic-cable rights to all five seasons of Friday Night Lights, beginning this September.
Based on the book and 2004 film of the same name, Friday Night Lights follows the players and coach of a competitive Texas high school football team. The Emmy-winning series recently began airing its fourth season on NBC, which has a deal allowing DirecTV to air the episodes first. The high school football series' upcoming fifth season will be its last.
"We're thrilled to add NBC's critically acclaimed series Friday Night Lights to the mix of our defining original and quality acquired series," Tom Zappala, ABC Cable Networks' executive vice president of program acquisitions & scheduling, said in a statement. "The series is beloved by critics and viewers, and fits in perfectly with ABC Family's blend of optimistic, heartfelt programming."
Will you tune in to watch Friday Night Lights from the beginning?
