LOS ANGELES – Hogan War Heats Up: Linda Rejected From Brooke’s 21st Birthday, Nick Starting A Charity? | Shiva Rose 'Embarrassed' By Iranian President, Upset Everyone Thinks They’re All Terrorists | Exclusive: Lindsay Lohan Dissed From Hottest of Maxim’s Hot List | Good Girl Ginnifer Goodwin Does Bad Girl Photo Spread
Brooke Hogan was all smiles as she celebrated her coming-of-age last week at Sin City’s Spago Restaurant alongside her boyfriend Stack$, father Hulk, brother Nick and a few close friends — but notably absent for the intimate affair was her mom, Linda Bollea.
Brooke reached out to her mother numerous times and let her know that she was more than welcome at any of her birthday celebrations and that she would love her to be there, but Linda chose not to attend, said a source.
"Linda was really, really hurt," another source told Tarts. "But Brooke has sided with her father in all of this, she was adamant about not celebrating with her mom or extending an invitation."
Following dinner, Brooke partied with (and couldn’t keep her hands off) her beau inside PURE nightclub while typically protective Hulk looked on disapprovingly.
Linda filed for divorce from the semi-retired, pro-wrestling husband in November 2007 — just weeks after their then 17-year-old-son Nick was involved in a car accident that had him serve an eight-month jail sentence after his passenger John Graziano was left in a vegetative state.
The "Hogan Knows Best" family again hit the spotlight again last year when the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office released audio tapes of Nick's jail phone conversation with his dad during his incarceration several months earlier. The conversation included Nick saying that crash victim Graziano was a "negative person" and he also asked Hulk to organize him a spin-off reality television show after his release.
"I want to do where I’ll make the most money," Nick said, his father adding that he’ll produce the show and make his son the owner.
But so far Nick hasn’t any luck with that controversial show of his, with an insider telling Tarts that the production companies and hesitant to even touch it. A rep for VH1 (the network behind "Hogan Knows Best" and the spin-off "Brooke Knows Best") confirmed to Tarts that there was nothing in the works regarding Nick.
Although the now 18-year-old has made the move to the outskirts of Tinseltown and still has high hopes of making it on the big-screen.
"He wants to start his own charity," a source close to mama Linda said. "He wants to make a name for himself."
But even though the 18-year-old wasn't allowed inside PURE with his big sis last week, he is reportedly a regular at Agoura Hills nightclub Chapter 8 where is he often brought to the DJ booth and announced as being "a celebrity in the house."
Shiva Rose Gharibafshar is no doubt proud of her Iranian roots; her father even has his own show on the Persian Broadcasting Company . But when it comes to the nation’s politics, the actress has no problem admitting she’s well, embarrassed.
"The best part about being Iranian is the rich culture and kind people. The worst part is how at times, I have been embarrassed by the president," Rose admitted to Tarts at last week’s 14th Annual Los Angeles Antiques Show Opening Party to benefit P.S Arts. "But then again I've been embarrassed by the former president of the USA too."
Ouch. But that’s not the only issue of importance Rose raised, she also implied that in at least one respect Iran is further advanced than the U.S when it comes to giving women a political voice.
"The biggest misconception of Iranian people today is that everyone just assumes they're terrorists," she added confidently. "But what's shocking is that most people are unaware that there are more women in the Iranian senate then there are women in the US senate."
But according to Women in Congress, 76 women serve in the House of Representatives and 17 in the Senate compared to The 8th Majlis Election in Iran last year when only 8 women (2.8 percent of the total) were elected. Oh and FYI, after the Iranian Revolution in 1979 the Iranian senate was abolished …
Was that just a moment of embarrassment for Rose?
Lindsay Lohan’s big-screen career and itty bitty body aren’t the only things that are suffering — it seems the folks over at Maxim magazine aren’t too impressed with her fading frame either. For the first time since 2005, Lohan (who ranked #1 on the Maxim Hot 100 in 2007) didn’t make the top 10 nor did she make the top 20. Pop Tarts has confirmed that LiLo came in number 23 this year.
And whoever said that the concept of the "supermodel" was dead was dreaming because we’ve also heard word that last year’s winner Marisa Miller still managed to come in at #18 for 2009 and is joined on the hot list by a bevy of other bikini beauties including Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Bar Rafaeli, Joanna Krupa, Jamie Gunns and Miranda Kerr.
Ginnifer Goodwin's celeb status has always centered around her perky and proper persona — until now. The "Big Love" beauty has stripped down in black leather hotpants and a midriff (complete with sultry smoky eyes) for the cover of W magazine.
And here's a tease and some of the things she talks about ...
On perpetuating her own tabloid rumors …
"I perpetuate rumors that I’ve dated people that I’ve never actually dated. Dorothy Parker once said something along the lines of, ‘I don’t care what’s written about me so long as it isn’t true.’ It’s safe making."
On breaking up with boyfriend of several years, actor Chris Klein …
"I’m a better person in a relationship, and I’m a happier person. I need to come home at the end of the day and have it not be about me and my freaking hair and makeup and character motivations anymore. And I think my work is more inspired when home is safe and sound and solid because what I do for a living is so bananas and so insecure."
On being forced to give dating advice when she was promoting "He's Just Not That Into You" ...
I don’t know why anyone would want to ask an actor for dating advice. We are not the poster children for healthy relationships."
