Brad Pitt Calls Ex Jen Aniston 'A Sweetheart'

Pitt says he and Aniston still keep in touch

Angelina Jolie might not want to pick up the new issue of W magazine.

Inside, her husband-like life partner Brad Pitt is photographed showing every pore, and confessing to his continued close relationship with his ex-wife ,Jennifer Aniston.

"We still check in with each other," says the "Benjamin Button" star. "She was a big part of my life, and me hers. I don't see how there cannot be [that]. That's life, man. That's life."

Pitt also poo-poo's people who have pointed out that, according to his and Angelina's own admissions, they fell in love on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" while he was still married.

"What people don't understand is that we filmed [Mr. & Mrs. Smith] for a year. We were still filming after Jen and I split up," Pitt explains. "Even then it doesn't mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn't. I'm very proud of the way that it was handled. It was respectful. [The film] will mean something to our kids. It will, that's all."

Pitt also talks about why he chose artist and photographer Chuck Close, who uses the daguerreotype method, which shows every nook and cranny, to take his picture. "[I've been] the guy coming out of the ocean water with his T-shirt wet ... [and] have always walked away feeling a little crap about it."
