The days of fancy speeches and adoring rallies are over. The American people have been aroused from their infatuation and will now be judging President Obama on the cold hard facts not his rhetorical flourishes.

July 4 -- A Day to Read, Remember and Give Thanks

Every Fourth of July I pull out my copy of the Declaration of Independence and read it in its entirety. I do so to remind myself that while I am no blood relation to the Founding Fathers, I am, by virtue of my birth and citizenship, an heir to the legacy of democracy they bequeathed to us all.

    Judge Judy for Supreme Court

    By Patrick Dorinson Political Commentator

"I will seek somebody with a sharp and independent mind and a record of excellence and integrity."

So said President Obama recently when talking about what qualities he's looking for as he searches for someone to fill Justice David Souter's shoes on the Supreme Court.

Ten Political Expressions That Have Got to Go

Politicians are no different but their lexicon is filled with things that either don't make sense or insult the intelligence of people they are trying to explain things. Many are oxymorons. Most are downright laughable.

How Would Obama Be Covered If He Were a Republican?

Every day we learn more and more about the personal life of President Obama. The mainstream media seems obsessed with giving us every little detail of his day. About the only thing they haven't covered yet are his personal grooming habits.

Obama's Next 1360 Days Are More Important Than the First 100

But before the fawning mainstream media, Chris Matthews and the Democratic Party start a campaign to decide which dead white guy to replace with Obama's visage on our coins and currency; it's time for a little "Whoa there".

Live From a Tea Party -- Up Close and Personal in Sacramento

Under a bright blue California sky, close to 6,000 people have gathered on the West Front of the State Capitol and said "Enough!" I ran into an old California Highway Patrol officer I know and he said that he thought this was one of the biggest rallies we have had at the Capitol in many years.

Government Motors -- Coming to a Showroom Near You

Now that General Motors has effectively been taken over by the government and Chrysler has been given last rites, it might be helpful to see what kind of cars the government might produce.

We only have to look at the results other government's attempts at producing cars -- the Soviet Union and their Eastern Bloc allies during the Cold War.

    America Is Burning

Unlike the wildfires we have every year here in California and throughout the West, it is not consuming acres of forest and people's homes -- unless you count the huge drop in home values. It is consuming America's trust and confidence in the very institutions that we count on to guide this nation.

Politicians Kill DC Voucher Program, Dash Students' Hopes

Most of the criticism leveled at the recent Omnibus Spending Bill was about the 8,000 pork barrel projects it contained. Oddly enough, some of the folks complaining the loudest had their snouts deepest in the trough.
