No matter how impressive they look in movies, most of us wouldn't want to meet any gnarly-looking aliens in real life — and Jessie T. Usher couldn't agree more.
In the new film "Independece Day: Resurgence," Usher stars as Captain Dylan Dubrow-Hiller, the now-grown son of Jasmine Dubrow-Hiller and Stephen Hiller (Vivica A. Fox and Will Smith) from the first "Independence Day." But despite fighting his fair share of on-screen extraterrestrials at an interplanetary war, Usher tells us he was more daunted by the idea of actually being a part of the "ID4" franchise.
"When I got the call that I had booked 'Independence Day: Resurgence,' it was like … it was kind of hard to wrap my head around the idea," Usher tells FNM. "To be attached to one is almost surreal."
"It's almost like walking into your television set," Usher continues. "I don't know. I sat on my couch for a while and I was like, 'I'm gonna be in "Independence Day."' It was pretty cool."
Usher tells FNM he's also pretty stoked about the possibility of Earth's first contact with real aliens, although he's not as stoked about the possibility of actually meeting them himself.
"I think at this point, I'm pretty convinced that there's some other life forms out there that we don't know about, or haven't gotten into contact with yet," Usher says. "I'm hoping that if we do contact some aliens, they won't be anything like the ones in the film, because those guys are a lot bigger than us and way meaner."
"Hopefully, we get, like, some cuddly little furry ones," he laughs.
