Rick Folbaum currently serves as an anchor for FOX News Channel (FNC). He was at FNC for 10 years before leaving to join WNYW Fox 5 in New York in 2006. He has now returned as an anchor for the network.
Prior to returning to FNC, Folbaum was the anchor of WNYW's "Fox 5 News at 6." While with Fox 5, Folbaum anchored live, breaking coverage of some major news events including the Hudson River landing of US Airways Flight 1549, the Governor Spitzer sex scandal, the Wall Street meltdown, Pope Benedict's 2008 New York visit. Folbaum, and the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minnesota. He was also nominated for an Emmy for his reporting on the 2008 9/11 remembrance ceremonies.
During his first stint at FNC, he anchored many stories, including the release of Ken Starr's investigation of the Clinton/Lewinsky affair, the explosion of the Space Shuttle Columbia, the 2003 Northeast blackout, the United States invasion of Iraq, and the terror attacks of 9/11/01. He also served as anchor of the weekend edition of "The FOX Report," substitute anchor for the weekday edition of "The FOX Report," and weekend anchor for "FOX News Live." Additionally, Folbaum spent a year-and-a-half traveling the globe as a foreign correspondent for FNC, based in London. While working overseas, he covered the NATO-led war in Kosovo, the conflict in the Middle East, the peace process in Northern Ireland, Prince Edward's royal wedding, the investigation into Princess Diana's fatal car crash, and the 2000 Millennium celebrations.
Some of Folbaum's other work experiences include America's Talking, MSNBC and various broadcasting positions in Syracuse, Philadelphia and Aspen. While working in Colorado, Folbaum's breaking coverage of a tragedy involving 14 firefighter deaths at Storm King Mountain won a Best Reporting Award from the Associated Press. He holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
