Just 47 miles from Manhattan is arguably the craziest place to cool off in the midst of a heat wave: Mountain Creek Action Park in New Jersey. While they boast a slew of water and adventure rides, their most impressive might be a new waterslide that's more than one-third of a mile long.

Yes, one-third of a mile. At 1,975 feet, it the longest in the world, according to Guinness.

My first thought was, "I hope they check for rocks before they lay the slide down," but passengers reportedly slide down on a mat, safe from the mountain’s rocks, hills and bumps.

Get a really good running start, and the slide catapults you all the way to a small pool at the end: One Action Park employee took a ride down with a Go-Pro on his head, and it took him over a minute from start to finish … which means he was traveling at about 20 miles per hour.

If you’re still not sold, check out the employee’s video above!
