    The Washington Star's legendary columnist, Jack Germond, who died last week at 85, was a throwback in more ways than one. While disdaining the younger generation for avoiding whiskey, eating salads and hitting the treadmill, he also marveled at how most lacked the political sources that he so assiduously cultivated.
