  • Majority would vote against raising debt ceiling

    Soon Congress will have to vote on raising the nation’s debt limit so the federal government can borrow more money to make good on its spending commitments. If it were up to the American public, they would vote no -- with a majority saying the debt limit should only be raised after major spending cuts have been made.

    After watching lawmakers fail to agree on funding the federal government, a new Fox News national poll finds that fully 81 percent of voters disapprove of the job Congress is doing.  That’s slightly better than the record high of 83 percent disapproval recorded in 2011.  Just 13 percent approve of Congress today.
