I've worked at the White House myself. Either the White House did not research and vet Solyndra prior to the firm receiving over a half a billion dollars in a government loan guarantee (along with a presidential visit and endorsement) or they did and chose to ignore warning signs about the firm.

On September 11, 2001, I lost my nephew to Al Qaeda terrorists: Senior New York State Court Officer Thomas Jurgens. Tommy was a first responder who died while rescuing people from the south tower of the World Trade Center.Tommy's remains were never found.
